Trillium CNG recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Schuylkill County's first natural gas fueling station. The station, situation on Keystone Boulevard in Highridge Business Park, will serve multiple operations in the park. NFI Trucking, a carrier for Lowe's, Penske Logistics and Wegman's have all signed on to begin fueling their recently purchased compressed natural gas-fueled tractor trailers. In addition to the local companies that will utilize the facility, the station will also be open to the general public.
Being the host location of the region's first CNG positions Highridge for future growth. It is anticipated than more trucking firms, fleets and other businesses interested in the cost savings and environmental benefits of natural gas will begin converting vehicles to CNG.
"Trillium CNG is excited to be partnering with NFI, Penske and Wegmans Foods to make CNG available in the area," Trillium CNG President Mary Moettcher said. "We're confident other fleet operators in the tri-state region will take advantage of the environmental and economic benefits that natural gas provides."
SEDCO President Frank J. Zukas also envisions a future where more businesses are interested in converting their vehicles to CNG. "What this CNG station does is ensure Highridge is on the cutting edge of technology and cost-savings. Highridge is already ideally located on Interstate 81 and it now offers companies the ability to access the fuel of the future."
